올해 12월 10일은 유엔인권선언 70주년이 됩니다. 국제연합(UN)이 1945년 창설되고 나치의 유태인 학살 만행을 기억하고 전쟁과 반인도범죄의 방지와 세계평화를 위해 1948년 유엔인권선언문을 선포하였습니다. 현금 국제사회는 세계노예지수와 종교박해지수 1위인 북한의 심각한 인권문제에 대해 심각히 우려하고 개탄하고 있으며 즉각적인 반인도범죄와 학살을 중지할 것을 촉구하고 있습니다.


This year on December 10th marks the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UNDHR). Following its creation in 1945, the United Nations proclaimed this historic document in remembrance of human rights violations during the Holocaust, in prevention of warfare and crimes against humanity, and above all to promote universal peace. The international community condemns the serious violation of human rights in North Korea, which ranks No. 1 both in the World Slave Index and in religious persecution, and calls for an immediate halt to the crimes against humanity.



북한의 인권문제를 심각히 우려하고 북한주민의 고통을 염려하는 사람들이 ‘북한의 박해 받는 사람들을 기억하는 기간(자카르)’ 이란 3주간의 기간을 정해 올해 유엔인권선언 70주년을 기념하고자 합니다. 


In light of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we hope to unite those who are concerned by the suffering and abuses in North Korea through the three-week Zakar campaign.



자카르 기간을 통해 그동안 우리가 북한 주민의 고난에 대해서 침묵하고 모른 채 했던 것에서 벗어나 북한의 박해 받는 사람들을 기억하도록 다양한 방식과 의미 있는 실천으로 나아가는 기간을 갖고자 합니다. 이를 위해 각자의 영역에서 활동하는 단체들이 함께 연합하여 북한과 한반도에 공의와 정의가 이뤄지기를 촉구하고 행동하며 나아가는 주간이 되기를 희망합니다. 


The Zakar campaign aims to break the silence and actively raise awareness on the plight of North Korean people. Through various meaningful methods, the campaign sheds light on the forgotten victims of persecution. With this mission in mind, we hope that Zakar will unite organizations and groups from different fields towards the goal of achieving justice on the Korean Peninsula. 






*‘자카르’(zakar)는 히브리어로 ‘기억하다’는 뜻으로 어떤 사실을 기억하고 암기하는 정도에서 벗어나 주의를 더 기울여서 묵상하고 회상하고, 자기 스스로를 권면하여 일깨우는 의지적이고 능동적인 행위를 포함합니다.

“Zakar” literally translates “to remember” in Hebrew, carrying a deeper meaning beyond simply recalling and memorizing a truth. “Zakar” encourages attentive contemplation and reflection of one’s surroundings in the face of truth, denoting an active, conscious effort.
